August 2015 : Château du Seuil

Work in progress - Truffle Oaks

Less than 15 km from the center of Aix en Provence in the middle of a well-preserved countryside, the Castle of Seuil, a typical Provencal country house from the 13th century with a unique architecture, quietly stands above a 200 ha estate with 50 ha of wines. At the top of the highest mountain, we can have a view up to Sainte Victoire on the south-east and up to the Mediterranean coasts on the south west.It is at the heart of this landscape that in 2014 we have undertaken a huge restructuration programme to restart the economic activity of this estate which had lost its energy along the years. This huge project is completely based on bringing back its full potential with a permanent objective: respecting the soil. With the overall development strategy defined by the new owners based on the consistent development of its historical, cultural, and agricultural assets, our mission is to bring back its rich agricultural potential. Our job concerns a renewed care for the vineyard, the optimization of the wine-making process tool, the exploitation of the originality and the typicality of the vineyard's vatfuls, the cultivation of unused plots and the development of the grapes. All that require permanent consideration of the potential that this unique soil, which is located on Le Seuil's highest mountains, has to offer. This huge project, which needs to be carried on with permanent care, has allowed this exceptional soil to freely express its strength without any constraints.
